NAZANIN FOROGHI

PHOTOGRAPHY-JOURNALISM-FILMMAKING

As an Afghan filmmaker, photographer and teacher I combine many of my passions to create art, educate people and make them aware of important issues. As a crew member of several film productions I developed a portfolio of both artistic and journalistic value. In tasks I take upon myself I always seek opportunities to grow. I am a caring person passionate about working with diverse cultures and strongly believing in humanity.

Native of Afghanistan, Ms. Foroghi earned her Bachelor of Educational Science from Tehran University in Iran. Currently residing in Lesvos, Greece, Ms. Foroghi is a senior member of ReFOCUS Media Labs Collective where she serves as a program coordinator, creator, educator and mentor.

through photography nazanin tries to capture unique moments in time while relaying emotions that are essentially timeless. She’s also willing to turn the camera upon herself, and embrace the medium of self-portraiture in her work.

Ms. Foroghi directed Mo Hussein's original music video "Interview", was 1st Assistant Director on narrative films “Dead End” and Sound Designer for “Dancing Bells” for the “Stories that Matter” film series with Movies that Matter Film Festival in the Netherlands.

Nazanin also co-directed the documentary “Nothing About Us Without Us”; which advocates for a new standard of engagement between major media desks and the communities they report upon. the film, whcih was commissioned by allianz foundation as part of the annual berliner korrespondenzen debate sereis, had a world premiere at movies that matter film festival, nl in 2022.

NAZANIN’S written work has been featured on Aljazeera English, Crisis Magazine (Netherlands), and her photography and films have been exhibited internationally and featured in numerous festivals including Movies That Matter Film Festival, and Human Rights Film Festival Berlin.
