EMPOWERING REFUGEES AND ASYLUM SEEKERS THROUGH MULTIMEDIA SKILLS TRAINING AND EDUCATION

By supporting ReFOCUS, you become part of a community invested in making a real difference in real lives. You allow us to continue to develop real skills and turn dreams of a better future into reality. While the media may highlight the takers, our focus remains on cultivating the givers.

SUPPORT OUR WORK TODAY

OUR WORK

ReFOCUS was created to address the glaring gap in access to education and skills training for people who have lost precious years due to war, persecution, extreme poverty and for those with a burning wish to contribute to the economics of their receiving countries.

Our journey is fuelled by passion and creativity, with numerous former students and creators now serving as teaching artists. Their commitment fuels our mission, yet we aspire to enhance their work experiences by offering fair and competitive salaries that match their invaluable contributions in the creation of new media.

THE WORLD SEES TAKERS, BUT WE CULTIVATE GIVERS

We are resolute in our pursuit of professionalizing our media labs. Our goal is to equip students with industry-standard tools – from cameras and computers to audio, lighting, and visual support – ensuring they are adept with the equipment used in their prospective fields. As we advance, your support bridges aspirations with actuality, securing a brighter future for our team, our students, and the meaningful change we aspire to bring forth.

#FRACTUREDPODCAST

Buried in the Balkans

An investigation by Solomon collective in collaboration with research group Lighthouse Reports, Der Spiegel, ARD, British newspaper "i", Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty, and esteemed academics captures the neglect of authorities to document deaths of asylum seekers on the Balkan route. In this episode of Fractured we speak to Stavros Malichudis who investigated the deaths on the Balkan route to learn how difficult the body identification process is, how little resources are put into the proper documentation of the ones who died, and how much families of the deceased struggle to learn what happened to their loved ones.
